Study Island Homework is assigned weekly. There will be Math and ELA questions for the students to answer. Homework will NOT be assigned the first week of school. Homework assignments will begin the 2nd week of school! You will be receiving your child's Study Island log in information soon.
As time permits during the school day, your child will also have the opportunity to work on Study Island assignments at school. Homework will be assigned Friday by 4:00 p.m. and will be due on the following Friday at the close of the school day. I typically do not assign homework on weeks that have less than 4 school days. A 4 day week may have a modified homework assignment. (Ex: only Math homework)
PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF YOU CHILD DOES NOT HAVE ACCESS TO A COMPUTER, IPAD, OR INTERNET AT HOME. I will make other homework arrangements. If you ever have any questions, please let me know.
********Important Study Island Information*******Once you hit the submit button on the Study Island homework you can no longer view questions or change the answers. If you would like to go back to review later or change answers, hit the Save button. You can hit save all week and hit submit button on Thursday night if you wish.
Homework Policy
Homework is an important part of the learning process. It allows for necessary practice of skills, as well as teaching responsibility and time management. Homework responsibility grades will be reflected in the student behavior and study skills portions of the report card.
Students will not be penalized in content areas for incorrect answers on homework. Homework is monitored. It is assessed using a 1 - 4 scale as follows:
4 - outstanding (0-2 missing assignments).
3 - satisfactory (3-5 missing assignments)
2 - needs improvement (6-9 missing assignments)
1 - significantly far below grade level expectations (10+ missing assignments of homework),
Although it is not given an academic letter grade, it can affect whether a child receives Honor Roll or Principal's Award. As per school policy, students who receive a 2 or 1 on their report card in any area are not eligible for either award.
If your child is struggling with certain assignments and still doesn't understand after general guidance from you, please let me know. I would rather receive a paper that is incomplete or wrong but has a note attached from a parent, than one that has been given assistance on every problem. This allows for a more accurate assessment of strengths and weaknesses.
